Regulatory Climate Committee in collaboration with the Gold Coast Builders Association has conducted interviews that gauged the status of the development process by engaging both the public and private sectors. 74 interviews were conducted, 37 from each sector. The goal of the interviews was to identify best practices and barriers with in the development process on both the private industry side and public government side.

Participants in the interviews covered a broad range of trades and departments. Individuals that were involved in the project included:

Public Sector

  • Planning Directors
  • Zoning Directors
  • Building Officials
  • Chief Engineers

Private Sector

  • Contractors
  • Planners
  • Architects
  • Engineers

The questions involved in the interview surrounded 4 major areas of the development review process; Customer Service, Communications, Predictability / Process, and Documents / Interpreation.
